A driver was seriously injured after a cleaning company car collided with a passenger aircraft and a passenger staircase at Munich Airport, BR reported. The driver was flown to hospital by rescue helicopter, a police spokeswoman said.
The accident happened at around 3 a.m. The car first struck one of the aircraft’s engines. The plane was parked in a side area and had no people on board. The vehicle then collided with the unoccupied passenger staircase.
Initial findings suggested the driver may have been medically impaired before the crash, the spokeswoman said. An accident analysis report is expected to clarify the exact circumstances.
No danger was posed to other people at the airport, police said. The crash also had no effect on air traffic. Munich Airport has a night-flight ban between midnight and 5 a.m.
