Man dies in diving accident at Lake Attersee

A man died in a diving accident in Steinbach am Attersee in the Vöcklabruck district on Friday, ORF reported. A woman who also experienced problems underwater was taken to Salzkammergut Klinikum Vöcklabruck with minor injuries.

Rescue divers, firefighters and Red Cross crews responded to the incident. Rescuers began resuscitation at the scene, but their efforts were unsuccessful and the man died there.

The woman was taken to hospital after receiving initial treatment. No further information about her condition was immediately available.

The operation focused on the “Ofen” dive site between Steinbach am Attersee and Weyregg am Attersee.

The cause of the emergencies was not initially known. It also remained unclear whether the two diving accidents were connected.
