A horse died after falling about seven metres from a paddock onto the terrace of a house in Pixendorf in the Tulln district, ORF reported. The fire brigade used a crane to recover the animal.

According to the Michelhausen Volunteer Fire Brigade, the horse fell through bushes and landed on the terrace of a house on the property below. The animal could not be saved.

The terrace was about 20 metres from the road, making the recovery difficult. The Michelhausen brigade therefore requested support from Tulln.

The Tulln City Volunteer Fire Brigade arrived with a crane vehicle. A team from the industrial fire brigade of the Lower Austria Fire and Safety Centre also attended with a special harness for large animals.

The horse was lifted from the terrace by crane and collected by a specialist company. The operation ended after two hours, the Michelhausen brigade said.
