Vienna police arrest two alleged dealers after 18kg seizure

Vienna police arrested two suspected drug dealers in the Leopoldstadt district on Monday after seizing more than 18 kilograms of narcotics from two apartments, ORF reported.

Officers noticed a 37-year-old Albanian man behaving suspiciously during a patrol and placed him under surveillance. They observed him meet a 32-year-old Austrian man and place a backpack in the other man’s car.

A search of the car found more than one kilogram of cannabis. Police stopped the 37-year-old’s vehicle shortly afterwards and arrested him despite resistance. The 32-year-old was also provisionally arrested.

Investigators later found about 17 kilograms of marijuana, 1.5 kilograms of cocaine and 60 grams of crystal meth in two apartments. They also seized several mobile phones and 160 euros in cash. Further investigations are under way.
