Police stop getaway car after Czech shop robbery

Police stopped a getaway car near Großkrut in the Mistelbach district after a robbery in Czechia, ORF reported. The four occupants included boys aged 13 and 14. Officers found balaclavas, a blank-firing pistol and cash matching the reported loot.

Two masked people robbed a shop in Břeclav on Friday evening. The Drasenhofen Police Cooperation Centre was told that the suspects had fled in a white car with Vienna registration plates.

During a search, officers spotted the vehicle on the B47 and stopped it near the Großkrut entrance to the A5 North Motorway. The car contained four Austrian citizens living in Vienna: a 20-year-old driver, a 20-year-old passenger, and the two boys in the back seat.

Police seized several balaclavas, a blank-firing pistol and a four-figure sum in Czech koruna and euros. The amount matched the proceeds of the robbery, police said in a statement on Tuesday.

The robbery division of the Lower Austria State Criminal Police Office took over the investigation. The 13-year-old and 14-year-old face no legal consequences because the age of criminal responsibility in Czechia is 15.

The two 20-year-olds, who said they had acted as the driver and lookout, will be reported to the Vienna Public Prosecutor’s Office after the investigation is completed.
