Graubünden prosecutors have opened proceedings against the driver of a coach involved in a fatal crash in the Engadin last Thursday, SRF reported. Five people died and many others were injured.

The driver is suspected of multiple counts of negligent homicide and bodily injury, the authorities told SRF’s Regionaljournal Graubünden.

The proceedings are standard in such cases. The driver has not been detained and is presumed innocent. Investigators have not yet evaluated specific evidence.

The coach, which was travelling from the Netherlands, was heading from Zernez towards Susch when it left the road at a construction site and overturned onto its side. The vehicle has since been recovered.
