Fire spreads from bin to former brothel in Reutte

A fire broke out at a former brothel building in Reutte on Saturday afternoon, ORF reported. The blaze started in a rubbish container and spread to the facade, according to the fire brigade.

Several emergency calls were received at about 2.12 p.m. Responders saw dense smoke while approaching the building. One side of the former Urisee Hotel, which was also used as a brothel in the past, was in flames.

Two teams wearing breathing apparatus from the Reutte and Berwang fire brigades contained the fire and extinguished it completely.

Several workers currently live in the building, according to the Reutte fire brigade. Because it was initially unclear whether everyone had escaped, emergency crews searched the building. A policewoman was apparently injured and was taken to hospital with suspected smoke inhalation.

Firefighters also opened the roof while checking for hidden embers and carrying out targeted extinguishing work. More than 60 emergency responders and 10 vehicles attended the scene. The Red Cross, an emergency doctor and several police patrols were also deployed.
