Romy awards return to Kitzbühel with new category

The 36th Kurier Romy awards will return to Kitzbühel on November 27, ORF reported. The ceremony will again be held at Schloss Kaps, a castle, in cooperation with the Kitzbühel Film Festival.

TV presenter Fanny Stapf and German singer Giovanni Zarrella will host the event, replacing last year’s presenting duo, Hans Sigl and Mirjam Weichselbraun. “I’m looking forward to Austrian Hollywood in Kitzbühel,” Stapf said in a video message.

Kurier managing director Richard Grasl said the organisers wanted Kitzbühel to become “even more of a Romy city” this year. He said the fact that Germany’s Bambi awards would not be held this year for the first time in living memory would further increase the Romy’s importance beyond Austria.

The film and television awards are organised by the Kurier media group in cooperation with ORF, which will broadcast the ceremony on a delayed basis from 9.20 p.m.

Voters can cast their ballots in eight categories until October 13. The categories include the most popular female and male performers in television and streaming and in film, as well as journalism and entertainment.

Nominees include international stars Léa Seydoux, Sandra Hüller, Heidi Klum and Eden Hasanovic, alongside Austrian names such as Julia Edtmeier, Gerhard Liebmann and Valerie Pachner.

A new, broadly defined category called “Aufgefallen” includes the band Die Toten Hosen and Opus, whose hit “Live Is Life” was also played at the final of the 2026 Football World Cup.
