Fire destroys machinery hall in Schönau im Mühlkreis

A large machinery hall was destroyed by fire overnight in Schönau im Mühlkreis, Freistadt district, ORF reported. About 80 firefighters responded.

The farmer noticed the fire at around 1 a.m. and alerted emergency services. When firefighters arrived, the wooden building was already fully ablaze. It was so badly damaged by the flames that it eventually collapsed.

Firefighters managed to protect the residential building directly next to the hall. The house remained undamaged, according to the fire service.

The local water supply worked well, but several nearby farmers also brought large quantities of water to the scene in slurry tankers to support the firefighting operation.

The main operation continued until about 3 a.m., followed by further extinguishing work. There were initially no details on the cause of the fire or the extent of the damage.
