Bus and car collide in Wörgl tunnel, closing road for two hours
A bus and a car collided in a tunnel on the Loferer Straße (B178) near Wörgl late Thursday afternoon, ORF reported. No one was injured, but the tunnel was closed completely for about two hours.
A 68-year-old Austrian was driving the coach from Hopfgarten towards Wörgl at around 5.30pm. There were 48 passengers on board.
At the same time, a 78-year-old Dutch woman was travelling in the opposite direction with her husband. For reasons not yet known, she crossed onto the oncoming lane. The coach driver could not avoid her vehicle, and the two vehicles collided side-on, police said.
The crash caused property damage only. The tunnel remained closed until the vehicles had been removed and towing work was completed. The road reopened to traffic at around 7.30pm.
