Three-country marathon heads for record participation

The three-country marathon on Lake Constance is heading for record participation, ORF reported. About a month before the race, 13,533 people had already registered, well above the roughly 12,000 participants recorded last year.

Demand is strongest for the half marathon, which organisers have capped at about 7,000 participants. The distance has been sold out since August, with 7,051 registrations officially listed.

The full marathon has also reached a record, with more than 3,000 runners registered for the first time. As of Wednesday, 3,330 people had signed up. There were also about 2,180 registrations for the quarter marathon, more than 620 for the relay marathon, around 290 for Nordic walking and more than 60 for the Youth Run.

These figures do not include the children’s marathon on the Saturday before the main event. About 560 children and young people are currently registered, while organisers expect around 3,000 participants by race day. Many registrations are expected in the coming weeks because the school year has not yet started.

The three-country marathon will take place on October 11. The marathon course starts in Lindau and follows Lake Constance through Germany, Austria and Switzerland before returning to Vorarlberg. The finish line is at the Lake Constance Stadium in Bregenz.

The marathon and quarter marathon start at 9.45 a.m., followed by the half marathon and Nordic walking at 10.30 a.m.
