Agrana, the listed sugar group, has approved the acquisition of flavour producer esarom, ORF reported on Wednesday. The company said all necessary approvals from its governing bodies had been obtained.
The transaction, with an agreed enterprise value of around 150 million euros, is expected to close at the beginning of the 2027-28 financial year after the purchase agreement is signed and antitrust approval is secured.
Agrana Beteiligungs AG plans to acquire 100 per cent of esarom GmbH and esarom Holding GmbH, both based in Oberrohrbach in the Korneuburg district. The purchase is intended to support Agrana’s growth strategy in its Food and Beverage Solutions division and expand its expertise in flavours and beverage solutions.
esarom develops and produces flavours, bases, powders, emulsions, functional blends and stabilisers for the food and beverage industry. The company operates two production sites in Austria, employs nearly 400 people and generated around 112 million euros in revenue in the 2025 financial year.
