Fire engulfs building near Rußbach municipal depot

A fire broke out near the municipal works depot in Rußbach, Salzburg’s Tennengau district, overnight into Wednesday, ORF reported. Parts of an outbuilding were already fully ablaze when firefighters arrived.

Heavy, at times almost impenetrable smoke hampered firefighting efforts, fire brigade commander Bernd Schnitzhofer said. He added that nearby residents were not in danger at any point.

Initial information indicates that the fire may have started near containers for recyclable materials. Around 60 firefighters remain at the scene. No one has been injured so far.
