Staffordshire terrier kills smaller dog in front of seven-year-old

A Staffordshire terrier killed a Jack Russell terrier in front of a seven-year-old boy in the Völkermarkt district on Tuesday, ORF reported. The child was unharmed but left severely shocked.

The boy was walking the dog near his parents’ home at about 12.15 p.m. when the Staffordshire terrier escaped from a house through the front door and attacked the smaller dog. It bit the Jack Russell several times in the back.

The smaller terrier died before police arrived. Its owners eventually separated the dogs. The Red Cross crisis intervention team was called to support the boy.
