E-bike crash leaves 58-year-old with severe head injuries

A 58-year-old Italian woman suffered severe head injuries in an e-bike crash on the Drau cycle path in Strassen in the Lienz district on Tuesday, ORF reported. She was resuscitated at the scene before being flown to a clinic in Innsbruck.

The woman had been cycling towards Lienz with her husband and daughter. According to them, she was riding several seconds ahead on her e-bike. They did not see the crash and found her unconscious at the right edge of the road in the municipality of Strassen.

An emergency doctor and ambulance crew provided initial treatment and resuscitated her before she was taken by air to the Innsbruck clinic. The cause of the crash was initially unclear.
