Hohenweiler Mayor Wolfgang Langes will resign on September 28 after 17 years in office, he confirmed to ORF Vorarlberg on Tuesday.

Langes said he had consistently stated after the most recent municipal election in March that he would not serve another full term as mayor.

Deputy Mayor Herbert Sohm is expected to succeed him. The Hohenweiler municipal council is due to elect Sohm at its meeting on September 28, when the official handover will take place.

Langes said he wanted to ensure that his successor was settled before stepping down.
