Three Munich residents injured in Italian light aircraft crash

Three people from Munich were injured when a Cessna light aircraft crashed in Trentino, northern Italy, on Monday, BR reported. The pilot apparently tried to make an emergency landing on a ski slope after a technical problem caused the aircraft to lose altitude rapidly.

The aircraft struck steep terrain heavily before coming to a stop on a run at the San Valentino ski area in Brentonico. One passenger suffered serious injuries, while the other two were less seriously hurt.

According to the Italian mountain rescue service, those on board were a man and a woman in their early 60s and their daughter, who was about 20 years old. All three were flown by helicopter to a nearby hospital.

The occupants were able to make the emergency call themselves. Firefighters, police officers and mountain rescuers then reached the aircraft, rescued the three passengers and provided medical assistance.
