Worker injured in accident at Brenner Base Tunnel site

A 51-year-old man was injured late Sunday afternoon after being caught by a transport train at the Wolf construction site for the Brenner Base Tunnel in Steinach am Brenner, ORF reported.

The man suffered an open fracture and bruising after getting under a very slowly moving low-bed wagon, a police spokesman told the Austria Press Agency on Monday.

It was unclear whether the locomotive driver failed to see the worker or whether the worker failed to see the train.

Emergency services took the injured man to a hospital in Innsbruck.
