Landjugend groups complete 46 projects in 42 hours

Forty-six Landjugend youth groups completed projects across Lower Austria within 42 hours, ORF reported. The projects included new play facilities, wooden furniture and renovated community meeting places.

The groups spent the weekend sawing, painting, paving and building. They received their assignments only when the project marathon began and had to finish them by Sunday.

In Atzenbrugg in Tulln district, a kindergarten fence was reused for a playground. The group also built a colourful hut and a wooden platform for a slide. In Statzendorf in St. Pölten district, members renovated a playground and added new play equipment.

The Landjugend Laabental group renewed a water play feature opposite the adventure pond in Neustift-Innermanzing, also in St. Pölten district. It also built two wooden loungers and new welcome signs for the entrances to the town.

In Biberbach in Amstetten district, a garden shed was built in the parish grounds as a storage and recreation area for the kindergarten’s nature group. The project also included play equipment and a vegetable pyramid. Another vegetable pyramid was built in Kirchberg am Wechsel in Neunkirchen district, where the group also made wooden furniture for the local bathing area.

Other groups focused on renovating existing facilities. In Weikertschlag in Waidhofen an der Thaya district, the Landjugend group refurbished a playground, repainted its playhouse, built a sandpit and repaved part of the area.

The 46 groups completed their projects after 42 hours of work on Sunday. A further 24 Landjugend groups will take part in the project marathon next weekend.
