Police arrest 25-year-old over fatal Vienna stabbing

Vienna police have arrested a 25-year-old Syrian man over the fatal stabbing of another Syrian man in the city’s 15th district, ORF reported.

The suspect was arrested on Friday afternoon near Ratschkygasse in Meidling, a district of Vienna. Police spokeswoman Irina Steirer said he had admitted involvement in the crime but provided no information about the background.

The 26-year-old victim was found seriously injured by witnesses in a courtyard near Gaudenzdorfer Gürtel, a road in Vienna, during the night of August 11. Emergency responders attempted to resuscitate him, but he died at the scene.

The confrontation itself took place at Gaudenzdorfer Gürtel and apparently involved disputes in the drug scene.
