Driver rams car with open door before fleeing in Vorarlberg

An unidentified driver caused a series of dangerous incidents on the Rheintal motorway A14 and in Lauterach on Friday afternoon, including deliberately damaging another car, ORF reports. Police are appealing for witnesses.

The incidents began at about 3 p.m. when several motorists reported the driver’s highly conspicuous and risky behaviour on the A14 towards Bregenz, between Dornbirn-Nord and Wolfurt. He allegedly drove erratically and braked abruptly several times.

Another motorist, who police believe had already been filmed by the suspect near the Wolfurt exit, was targeted shortly afterwards. At the Achpark in Lauterach, the unidentified driver allegedly deliberately blocked the other vehicle in the car park, forcing it to stop.

He then opened his driver’s door and accelerated. Driving close to the stationary vehicle with the door open, he rammed it, heavily damaging both the front and rear doors.

The driver fled via Dammstraße and Reitschulstraße, then turned around and drove the wrong way along Harderstraße, which is a one-way street.

Police are looking for an older brown or bronze-coloured Skoda Fabia with a Slovak number plate bearing the regional code “TR”. The suspect is described as a man about 185 centimetres tall, slim, with brown hair, a full beard and a somewhat darker complexion. Police are asking anyone with information to come forward.
