Maria Alm church bells ring again after lightning repair

The church bells in Maria Alm, in Salzburg’s Pinzgau region, rang again on Friday after a repair that took longer than expected, ORF reported. The first signal sounded at 6 a.m.

The bells had been silent since mid August after a lightning strike destroyed the control electronics in the church tower.

Parish priest Franz Auer said specialists had restored the system by Thursday afternoon. He said the repair had been delayed partly because the insurance process took time, but everything was now working again.

The bells will ring during the day from 6 a.m. onwards.
