Police officer rescues unresponsive baby from hot car

Police in Schwanenstadt, a town in the Vöcklabruck district, rescued a baby from a hot car on Thursday, ORF reported. The vehicle locked itself while the infant and the car key were inside.

The baby, born in July, was inside the car while the mother stood outside. The vehicle suddenly locked, and it was parked in direct sunlight. The mother eventually alerted emergency services.

Police officers were the first to arrive, after the infant had spent about half an hour inside the heated vehicle. The baby had already tilted its head back and was no longer responding.

One officer broke a side window to reach the child. The Red Cross treated and examined the baby at the scene. Police said the infant quickly recovered and was handed back to its overjoyed mother.
