Association marks 30 years supporting people with disabilities in Carinthia

The Vier Jahreszeiten association has supported people with disabilities in Carinthia with assistance in everyday life for 30 years, ORF reported. The anniversary was celebrated on Thursday at the Congress Center in Villach.

The association provides care in small groups at day centres across five locations in the state.

The centres offer postal, laundry and office services, as well as work placements outside the centres. Once a week, participants work at businesses such as Spar or Lidl with the support of an assistant. The aim is to familiarise them with everyday work in a real business, said Ilse Krassnitzer, the association’s director of educational affairs.

The programme also includes relaxation sessions, aroma oil treatments and music. These activities are intended to create a pleasant atmosphere and build a basis of trust, Krassnitzer said.

She said there was a strong need for supported housing for people with disabilities.
