Vienna prosecutors drop probe into six hospital deaths

Vienna prosecutors have dropped an investigation into suspected murder linked to six deaths at a Vienna clinic, ORF reported. They found no evidence of misconduct by doctors or nursing staff in any of the cases examined.

An exhumation of the deceased patients was considered unnecessary and was not carried out, prosecutor’s office spokeswoman Nina Bussek confirmed.

The investigation began after colleagues of the employee under suspicion contacted the clinic’s management at the beginning of the year. They had noticed an alleged accumulation of deaths linked to the employee’s shifts. An internal review did not confirm the allegations, and the employee’s contract was ended by mutual agreement at the employee’s request in February.
