Dating platform leads Villach man into stock investment scam

A 30 year old man from Villach lost tens of thousands of euros in an alleged stock investment scam after a woman he met on a dating platform recommended an “investment analyst,” ORF reported.
The man contacted the person and was instructed to open an account on a trading platform and carry out 19 transactions. When he encountered problems withdrawing his money, he researched the matter online and recognised the scam. Transactions in his supposed wallets were later flagged as potentially fraudulent. Investigations are ongoing.
Pellet scam reported in Klagenfurt
A 46 year old man from Klagenfurt ordered pellets worth nearly 2,000 euros through a website and transferred the money online to a Lithuanian account. The goods were never delivered and the website later went offline. He reported the case to police, but the money is believed to be lost.
