Vorarlberg approves nearly €14 million for roads and bridges

Vorarlberg’s state government has approved six road and bridge projects worth nearly €14 million, ORF reported. The projects cover sections of road in Ludesch, Thüringen, Au, Schwarzenberg, Andelsbuch, Sulzberg and Rankweil.

Three contracts worth about €4.2 million will now be awarded to companies. The government also approved construction plans for three further projects costing around €9.75 million. Alongside resurfacing roads, the projects include improvements for pedestrians and cyclists.

Lutz bridge to be replaced

The largest project already awarded concerns the L193 Faschinastraße between Ludesch and Thüringen. The Lutz bridge will be replaced, and a combined foot and cycle path with ramps will be built. The contract is worth around €2.79 million.

Another contract covers repairs to the L48 Bödelestraße between Schwarzenberg and Andelsbuch. The road surface is in such poor condition that repairs are required along a stretch of more than four kilometres. The project will cost around €1.09 million.

The third contract concerns a state road in Andelsbuch. Valley-side retaining walls on the L193 in Au will be repaired at a cost of around €306,700. The poor condition of the walls was also cited as the reason for this project.

Three further projects planned

The government has instructed the Road Construction Department to take the next steps on three larger projects:

The Bregenzerach bridge on the L193 in Au will undergo extensive repairs at a total gross cost of around €2.2 million.

The Dorener Straße on the L20 in Sulzberg will be repaired, expanded and fitted with a new pavement along a stretch of around 1.7 kilometres. The total cost is estimated at around €1.78 million.

The Meininger Straße on the L52 in Rankweil-Brederis will be expanded with drainage, a cycle path and a left-turn lane. The project is expected to cost around €5.77 million.
