Sturm Frauen overturn deficit to reach Women’s Europa Cup second round

Sturm Frauen beat FC Gintra 5-3 away in the second leg of the UEFA Women’s Europa Cup first qualifying round, advancing 7-4 on aggregate, ORF reported.

The Graz team appeared to be heading out after falling 3-1 behind in a match played in heavy rain, but fought back to secure the win.

Brigitta Pulins opened the scoring for Sturm in the third minute before Khrystyna Pereviznyk equalised three minutes later. Elizabeth Mideva then put Gintra ahead in the eighth minute, and Pereviznyk scored again in the 14th minute to make it 3-1.

Lilla Sipos pulled one back for Sturm in the 26th minute. Seven minutes later, an own goal by Makeila Yancey made it 3-3.

Another own goal, this time by Alla Herasymchuk, gave Sturm a 4-3 lead before Pulins completed the scoring from the penalty spot.
