Salzburg records 4,300 euros in per-capita public debt

Residents of Salzburg face average public debt of 4,300 euros per person, according to ORF. That places the province in the lower middle of Austria’s ranking when state and municipal debt are combined.
Styria has the highest per-capita debt, at around 8,600 euros, followed by Carinthia at 8,200 euros and Burgenland at almost 7,800 euros.
Lower Austria, at around 7,500 euros, and Vienna, at approximately 7,350 euros, also rank comparatively high. Vorarlberg’s per-capita debt stands at just over 5,000 euros, while Salzburg’s is 4,300 euros.
Upper Austria and Tyrol have the lowest reported debt levels. Upper Austria records around 3,300 euros per person, while Tyrol is slightly below that and ranks last among Austria’s provinces.
