A 27-year-old man suspected of fatally stabbing a woman at Rosenheim railway station has been committed to a psychiatric hospital, BR reported. He was arrested at the scene and is suspected of murder.

Police said investigators found concrete indications of possible mental health problems. A remand judge therefore issued an order for his placement in a psychiatric hospital on Sunday.

Woman died in hospital

The suspect allegedly attacked a 31-year-old British woman with a knife overnight from Saturday to Sunday, seriously injuring her. She later died in hospital from her injuries.

The man was arrested immediately after the attack. Police are investigating why he allegedly attacked the woman and whether the two knew each other, a spokesperson for the Upper Bavaria South police headquarters said.

Police also confirmed, in consultation with prosecutors, that the suspect is a German citizen without a permanent residence. Criminal police and prosecutors are continuing their investigation.
