German athletes take both Zell am See triathlon titles

German athletes won both titles at the Ironman triathlon in Zell am See, according to ORF. Around 2,500 men and women took part in the event in Salzburg’s Pinzgau region on Sunday.

Lasse Nygaard Priester extended Germany’s winning streak in the men’s race to six victories. The 31-year-old completed the roughly two-kilometre swim, 90-kilometre cycling leg and final half-marathon in three hours and 43 minutes.

Laura Philipp won the women’s race in four hours and 13 minutes. Austrian Lisa Perterer from Carinthia finished second.
