A 17-year-old probationary licence holder from Linz was stopped after driving at 168 km/h on the B3 Danube Road towards Steyregg in the Urfahr-Umgebung district, ORF reported.

The teenager was driving at about 2.30 a.m. on Sunday while police were conducting speed checks along the road. A laser measurement showed he was travelling at 168 km/h in a 100 km/h zone.

Police pursued the car and stopped the driver shortly afterwards. He was unable to explain the serious speeding offence. Officers provisionally confiscated his driving licence, both physically and digitally, and reported him to the authorities.
