Stammersdorf wine festival brings tractors, music and regional food

Stammersdorfer Straße in Vienna’s Floridsdorf district is hosting the Stammersdorf Wine Days this weekend, with regional wines, Heurigen specialities and live music, ORF reports. The festival’s traditional highlight is an old-timer tractor parade.
The event has been held in Floridsdorf since 1991 and is organised each year by the Volxfest association. It is taking place on Saturday and Sunday, with entertainment for children and adults and opportunities to sample wine from the region and food from Heurigen wine taverns.
The festival runs from 1 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Saturday and from noon to 10 p.m. on Sunday. Admission is free.
Old-timer tractor parade
About 30 historical tractors will travel in procession through Stammersdorf on Saturday. The parade starts at 3 p.m. at Freiheitsplatz. The vehicles will then be displayed so visitors can see them up close.
The festival will officially open at 5 p.m. Music will be provided by groups including the Stammersdorf Music Association and the Stammersdorf Men’s Singing Association. The band Die frechen Engel will perform from 6 p.m.
Children’s parade held for first time
Sunday will bring a new children’s tractor parade, in addition to the old-timer parade. From noon, children can decorate pedal tractors, Bobby Cars and tricycles at a “Pimp Station”. The parade will start at 1 p.m. along the festival route.
Participation is free, but registration on the event website is required.
Other performers include Ernst Ebner, Brix and Nairz, Nairz and Kapusta, Lebendig, and Freddy and Friends. The programme also features a folk-dance performance organised by Basis Kultur Wien, travelling musicians and a barrel-organ player.
Children can use a bouncy castle and a carousel, and visit a Kinderfreunde activity station. The creative area offers caricature drawing, airbrush tattoos, calligraphy and arts and crafts.
