WSG Tirol beat Austria Lustenau 4-0 to climb table

WSG Tirol moved out of the Bundesliga’s lower reaches with a 4-0 away win over Austria Lustenau on Friday, ORF reported. Nikolai Baden Frederiksen scored twice, while Michael Olakigbe and Marc Striednig also found the net to put Tirol temporarily seventh in the table.
In heavy rain before 4,219 spectators, WSG were the more dangerous side from the start. Moritz Oswald, on loan from Rapid, impressed on the left wing, while Lustenau goalkeeper Phillip Böhm made his Bundesliga debut in place of the suspended Domenik Schierl.
Böhm was forced to intervene against Baden Frederiksen after two minutes. The Danish forward then narrowly missed a pass from Olakigbe in the penalty area in the 21st minute.
Olakigbe opened the scoring after Baden Frederiksen held off Danilo Soares on the right. Husein Balic’s deflected cross reached Olakigbe in the centre, and he finished with a volley.
Balic almost doubled the lead two minutes later. After Niklas Pertlwieser lost possession, the winger dribbled past Böhm but struck the outside of the net from a tight angle. At the other end, WSG goalkeeper Salko Hamzic and the post combined to keep out a direct corner just before half-time.
WSG established a clear advantage after the break. Baden Frederiksen, set up by Olakigbe, doubled the lead with a composed left-footed shot into the far corner. After an hour, Striednig headed a looping effort from Thomas Goiginger’s corner into the same corner.
Baden Frederiksen completed the scoring from the penalty spot after Böhm missed a punch and made contact with WSG player Drew Murray’s head. The penalty was awarded following a review by the video assistant referee.
Raphael Gschösser, introduced seconds earlier, hit the crossbar with a drop-kick from a corner in the 79th minute. Lustenau’s Precious Benjamin and Seydou Diarra then missed the hosts’ best chance of scoring when they failed to convert a double opportunity.
The win was WSG Tirol’s second-biggest away victory in the Bundesliga, behind a 5-1 win at TSV Hartberg in October 2022. Tirol have now won four of their last five top-flight matches in Lustenau.
