Police seek help to find missing German holidaymaker

Police are asking for information about a 61-year-old German man who has been missing in the Kleinwalsertal valley since Wednesday, ORF reported. He left his accommodation in Oberstdorf alone and was last seen near the Ifen cable car in Hirschegg.

Search teams continued operations on Friday but had not found him. After extensive searches around the Hoher Ifen mountain and surrounding areas on Thursday, teams systematically searched the relevant areas again on Friday.

Vorarlberg’s drone unit and emergency crews from the Allgäu region of Germany again supported the operation with drones equipped for search missions. Police said the man needs medication.

The search for the missing man was unrelated to the death of another 56-year-old German hiker, who fell on the Hoher Ifen on Thursday.

Anyone who saw the man after August 26 or has information about his possible whereabouts is asked to contact the Kleinwalsertal police station at +43 (0) 59 133 8129.

He is around 178 centimetres tall, weighs approximately 90 kilograms and has a stocky build. He has fair skin, short brown hair, brown eyes and wears glasses. His clothing is unknown.
