Christina Stürmer, Linz, Upper Austria

Christina Stürmer’s open-air concert in Linz was cancelled at short notice on Friday because of forecast thunderstorms in Upper Austria, ORF reported. The concert was scheduled to take place at the Frischluft stage at the Posthof venue.

The organiser is working on a replacement date and said it would announce the new date as soon as possible.

Tickets already purchased remain valid and do not need to be exchanged, according to the organiser.

The Musikfestiwels festival in Wels is expected to go ahead, ORF Upper Austria reported from the venue. However, Friday’s concerts are initially expected to be shortened or brought forward.

GeoSphere Austria issued an official thunderstorm warning for Upper Austria shortly before noon on Friday, forecasting locally severe storms with gusty winds, hail and heavy rain. Parts of the central region around Linz were expected to be particularly affected.
