Police find one girl after alleged attack on 12-year-old in Vomp

Police have identified one of two girls suspected of attacking a 12-year-old acquaintance in Vomp, Schwaz district, and filming the incident, ORF reported. The victim suffered facial injuries and was taken to Schwaz Hospital.

The attack happened last weekend. Police said the 13- and 14-year-old suspects lured the girl behind the monastery in Vomp at about 9.30 p.m. on Saturday. They allegedly kicked her repeatedly in the head and pulled out her hair while recording the assault on a mobile phone.

The girls also allegedly threatened to kill her with a knife if she screamed. A 50-year-old passer-by noticed the confrontation, prompting the suspects to flee. They took the victim’s mobile phone with them.

The girl suffered swelling and bruising to her face, police said. The suspected attackers fled across fields towards an industrial area.

Police located and questioned the older girl on Wednesday. She confessed to the attack, according to police. Officers secured her mobile phone and the victim’s student travel pass. The second suspect has not yet been found.

The victim suspects the attack was an act of revenge because she had previously helped another girl.
