Signal failure stops trains at St Pölten main station

No trains can currently stop at St Pölten’s main station because of a signal box failure, Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB) told ORF. Replacement bus services have been arranged while the problem is being repaired.
According to ÖBB spokesperson Christopher Seif, long-distance trains are being partly diverted via the freight train bypass. Replacement buses are operating in some cases between Pöchlarn in the Melk district and St Pölten, and between Tullnerfeld and St Pölten.
In local transport, replacement buses have been arranged between Loosdorf in the Melk district, or Pottenbrunn and Viehhofen, and St Pölten.
The problem began at about 8.30 a.m. and concerns the signal system around St Pölten’s main station. Seif said ÖBB hoped to resolve it within the next hour, but could not give a reliable forecast. No train can currently remain stopped at the station.
