Klagenfurt Airport has rejected concerns that weeds growing on its apron affect safety, ORF reported. Passengers have complained about the vegetation, but the airport said the relevant areas are not safety-critical.
The dense grass growth is limited to the apron, which is used for parking and waiting. The runway remains free of vegetation and meets all safety standards, according to an airport spokeswoman.
The airport carries out regular maintenance but avoids chemical weedkillers wherever possible. It said this approach reflects a sustainable policy for managing the environment and resources.
