A 51-year-old woman was injured when her husband’s tractor rolled out of control and struck her in a vineyard in Styria on Tuesday, ORF reported. The woman was taken to Feldbach State Hospital with injuries of undetermined severity.
The accident happened later in the afternoon in Poppendorf, part of the municipality of Gnas in the Southeast Styria district, police said. The woman’s husband was driving uphill from the lower end of the vineyard when the tractor unexpectedly began rolling backwards downhill for reasons that remain unclear.
The woman had approached the tractor to bring her husband something to drink. The vehicle, fitted with a mulching attachment, hit and dragged her before breaking through a wildlife fence at the bottom of the vineyard. It eventually came to a stop with the woman in an adjoining forest.
The 51-year-old man declined medical treatment.
