Burgenland, fire, Heiligenkreuz

A fire broke out overnight into Tuesday in a hall belonging to Umweltdienst Burgenland in Heiligenkreuz, in the Jennersdorf district, ORF reported. Four fire brigades sent about 50 firefighters to the scene.

Firefighters from Heiligenkreuz, Deutsch Minihof, Eltendorf and Mogersdorf prevented the flames from spreading by laying down a blanket of foam, according to Martin Ernst of the Jennersdorf district fire command.

The operation lasted about four hours, and the fire was declared extinguished at 5 a.m. No one was injured, but the building sustained damage. Firefighters suspect an overheated battery caused the blaze.
