Brother arrested after risky driving sends car rolling on Vienna’s S2

A 20-year-old driver’s risky manoeuvres on the S2 in Vienna’s Donaustadt district caused another car to crash and overturn on Saturday evening, ORF reported. The driver was uninjured, while police arrested his 24-year-old brother at the scene.

Police said the 20-year-old was travelling from the A23 motorway towards the S2 shortly after 11 p.m. He was driving too fast, braking suddenly and changing lanes repeatedly. During a lane change on the S2, he touched the car driven by a 29-year-old woman.

Her car struck the crash barrier and overturned. The woman suffered minor injuries and was able to get out of the vehicle by herself before being taken to hospital by Vienna’s professional ambulance service.

While officers secured the scene, the driver’s brother appeared. He had parked his vehicle on the emergency lane on the opposite carriageway, then crossed several lanes and the central barrier on foot to reach the crash site and his brother.

Police warned him that his actions were life-threatening, but he became increasingly aggressive and refused to leave with the officers. He was subsequently arrested.
