Hartberg snatch first Bundesliga win with 93rd-minute goal

TSV Hartberg secured its first win of the Austrian Bundesliga season by beating Altach 2-1 away, with Benjamin Markus scoring in the 93rd minute, ORF reported.

Angelo Gattermayer put Hartberg ahead in the 16th minute with the club’s first league goal of the season. Altach equalised through Ousmane Diawara in the 53rd minute, but Markus struck late to settle the match.

The result extended Altach’s winless run against Hartberg to 11 league matches. Altach also dropped to 11th in the table, behind Hartberg.

Hartberg took the lead after Lukas Jäger failed to clear a header, allowing Gattermayer to run through and beat goalkeeper Dejan Stojanovic. Altach struggled to create clear chances before the break.

Marko Raguz replaced Srdjan Hrstic at half-time, and Altach soon levelled. Patrick Greil hit the crossbar before Diawara headed the resulting cross into the net.

Altach pushed for a winner, but Hartberg prevented the hosts from creating another clear opportunity. In the final seconds, Marco Hoffmann sent a long ball into the middle, where Markus arrived from deep and finished into the far corner. It was the Slovenian’s first league goal in Austria.

Altach had been targeting its second home win of the season. Yann Massombo was again absent from the squad after training individually following the dispute over his appearance against Sturm Graz. The club said it expected to provide an update on the matter early next week.
