Drunk driver crashes after fleeing Graz police

A 22-year-old driver fled police in Graz early Saturday, crashed into a building and was found to be heavily intoxicated and without a valid driving licence, ORF reported.

At about 12:55 a.m., a police patrol saw the vehicle enter an intersection despite a red light on Triester Straße. Officers began pursuing it.

The driver accelerated to up to 115 kilometres per hour, endangering other road users. He eventually crashed into the edge of a building near the intersection of Triester Straße and Lauzilgasse.

The driver suffered minor injuries. A breath test showed severe intoxication, and police also found that the man from Graz did not have a valid driving licence. He will be reported to police over the violations.
