Rescuers tow disabled sailboat towards Bregenz

A sailboat carrying seven people was towed to a harbour after becoming unable to manoeuvre on Lake Constance, ORF reported. The incident happened around midday on Friday in difficult weather conditions.
The Lindau water rescue service was alerted at about 1.30 p.m. The lake had winds at force five to six, waves around 1.5 metres high and rain. The boat was reportedly drifting uncontrollably towards Bregenz.
The Lindau service sent the motor rescue boats Seewolf and Barracuda to follow it. The sailboat was caught shortly before Bregenz, towed into a harbour and secured by Bregenz firefighters.
The Vorarlberg maritime police, the Austrian Water Rescue service and the fire departments of Fußach, Hard and Bregenz also took part in the operation.
One water rescue worker suffered minor injuries during the response and was taken to hospital for further medical treatment.
