Police arrest internationally wanted drug trafficker in Mittersill

Police arrested a 36-year-old Syrian man wanted internationally for drug trafficking in Mittersill, Salzburg province, on Friday, ORF reported.

Turkey has already sentenced the man to more than 10 years in prison and issued a wanted notice for him. Police said an international arrest warrant had been issued over alleged narcotics trafficking up to August 2022.

The man is currently involved in an asylum procedure in Austria. Following his arrest, the Salzburg public prosecutor’s office ordered his transfer to a correctional facility.
