Passenger seriously injured in motorcycle crash near Kötschach-Mauthen

A 62-year-old passenger was seriously injured when a motorcycle crashed on the B110 road near Kötschach-Mauthen on Friday, ORF reported. She was flown by rescue helicopter to Klinikum Klagenfurt. The 59-year-old rider was also taken to hospital by helicopter.

The rider was travelling from Oberdrauburg towards Kötschach at about 1.30 p.m. Shortly before the village of Laas, he said, the motorcycle began to skid on the rain-wet road while negotiating a left-hand bend.

He lost control and the motorcycle crashed. After receiving emergency medical treatment, the passenger was flown to Klinikum Klagenfurt by the C7 rescue helicopter.

The rider’s condition deteriorated during initial treatment. He was flown by the ARA3 rescue helicopter to Villach Regional Hospital.
