German climber dies in 40 metre fall at Kals climbing area

A 19-year-old German climber died after falling 40 metres while abseiling in a climbing area in Kals am Großglockner on Friday afternoon, ORF reported.
Police said the accident happened at about 1:45 p.m. near the Lucknerhaus. The climber was part of a group of four people who were abseiling from the second belay station.
The 19-year-old, who abseiled first, fell for reasons that remain unknown. An autopsy has been ordered.
