Two injured in separate traffic crashes in Graz

Two people were injured in separate traffic crashes in Graz on Wednesday after colliding with cars, ORF reported. The victims were a pedestrian and an e-bike rider.
In the Gries district, a 32-year-old pedestrian tried to cross Rösselmühlgasse away from a pedestrian crossing in the afternoon. He apparently failed to see an approaching car.
The 39-year-old driver, who is from Bosnia and Herzegovina, immediately braked but could not avoid the collision. The car struck the pedestrian, who fell onto the bonnet and was thrown onto the road. He was taken to Graz State Hospital with injuries.
Police said none of those involved had been drinking.
E-bike rider seriously injured during U-turn
In the Lend district, a 54-year-old driver was travelling along Kalvariengürtel on Wednesday afternoon. She slowed down after moving into a turning lane to turn left into Kalvarienbergstraße.
At the same time, a 25-year-old e-bike rider was travelling in the straight-ahead lane. He tried to make a U-turn at the intersection and moved to the left, colliding with the side of the car.
The rider fell and suffered a serious leg injury. The Red Cross took him to Graz Accident Hospital. Alcohol tests were also negative in this case.
