Seized Kawasaki auctioned for 7,000 euros in Upper Austria

A Kawasaki motorcycle seized after an extreme speeding offence has been auctioned for 7,000 euros, ORF reported. The bike, belonging to an 18-year-old rider, was sold by auction house Dorotheum in Traun, in the Linz-Land district. The starting price was 800 euros.

The motorcycle was seized in August after the rider was recorded travelling at 206 km/h on the A1 motorway near Puckingerberg, where the speed limit was 100 km/h.

The Linz-Land district authority ordered the auction under stricter rules against extreme speeding introduced in 2024. One condition is that the vehicle must belong to the rider.

The online auction ended at noon on Wednesday. Several interested bidders submitted offers in the days before the auction, with the price rising sharply in the final minutes.

The green Kawasaki Ninja ZX-4RR was first registered in July 2025 and had around 9,520 kilometres on its odometer. The auction listing noted signs of age and use, a sports exhaust without a so-called DB killer, and the suspected removal of the motorcycle’s power restriction.

According to the Linz-Land district authority, this was the first auction of a seized speeding motorcycle in Upper Austria. In several other cases, seized vehicles had to be returned because the riders were not their owners.
